but then I think about all that I have gained up here. I have made amazing friends. Mary dropped everything the night I called her crying because my heart had been broken... Susan and Gill took me shooting and have helped me to have some wonderful memories here in Fairbanks! All of my coworkers have been amazing, they really showed me what it means to be there for each other and they brighten every day at work! Erin and Switch have become a large part of our lives here.. the dogs love running around at the river and Ester Dome with their new friend... and currently all three dogs are laying here and cuddling with me! Our old friends Skippy and Gertie (and their owners!) will never be replaced and are always missed, but I am finding that I am meeting people that brighten our days! I always thought I was so blessed with such amazing friends that I didn't need anymore, but I have to say, I am extremely happy we keep meeting more people that will be part of our lives forever.
Tara came to the middle of nowhere to visit! And we appreciated that so much. It was nice to have a little of home here when I was going throughsuch a sad time! we had great times...dinners, dance party, talks, and one of adventures is the reason behind this post.... to update everyone on the wild life encounters!I know I am horrible at updating this page, probably because I don't have much to say that everyone hasn't heard already! But I felt that I needed to update the animal tally....
moose: too many to count
bear: still none!!! (I want to see one)!
whales : 3!
porpoise: a handful
seals: probably 10
dall sheep: 2!!!
which brings me to my story... I am such a city girl. Tara and I were hiking in Denali when we sat on some rocks to take some pictures. and all of the sudden two Dall sheep were across the water! how amazing! It was hysterical, it seemed like they just kept looking straight at us. and of course, we had no clue what to do.. well, the couple around us, heard us freaking out a little and told us not to worry, that they wouldn't hurt us... despite this reassurance, when the sheep started making their way up the mountain towards us, I decided that we should head down the opposite way. I don't think I have ever moved that fast! of course after we realized that we were safe, we had to go back up and get a closer look at such a beautiful animal! I couldn't believe our view... Alaska is truly incredible. I am still amazed. And looking forward to my time here!
I want to see a whale!! Maybe if I can save up some money I can come see you...it would be fun (and a bit of trouble)
