So... I think today was my best day in Alaska so far. I obviously love work, but today was a really nice relaxing day. I slept in, which was much needed...and then curled up with a good book, Siberia John and the Mystery of the Amazing Zoo (written by none other than my talented amazing sister and her friend Nina...). Then I took the dogs to the pet store where I met my coworker Mary... Bay and Kal got their harnesses for skijoring (and I got the one that goes around my waist)... so this week they will start getting used to playing in the harnesses and then we will go to Mary's and have them chase the sled dogs to get used to what to do!!
after kal and bay caused the appropriate ruckus in the pet store we loaded up in the car and drove to the river.. which was amazing!! there are all these trails to walk on and the dogs got to run free... so Bailey and Kallie got to run with their new friends Pico and Neesa. And so after an hour of running (some fish catching by the pups), they are tired out and actually curled up asleep! The river is going to be our new hangout on the weekends... so relaxing and nice to get out and actually walk an interesting trail!
Then I came home.... I guess I have to update you first on what was going on with the house. Well Kenny (my landlord) was trying to sell the house. And he had a buyer, so I have been wondering this past week when I was going to have to move (AGAIN!). It was just a matter of time before I was homeless again and back to searching the classifieds. BOO!!! But Kenny called a few minutes ago to tell me that he is taking the property off the market!!! YEAH! We can stay. It may be a small house, and a little away from everyone else...but it has become home.. and we really like our little cabin. So I am really happy. Its surprising how quickly I have adjusted to living in Alaska.
Awesome!Still can't believe how much Alaska sounds like! From the Skijoring, to the temperature (and goofy gear, do you really have an ankle length jacket?!)and the river with the trails, the moose, I can't wait to visit! Love from California, and my little dog too!
