A little too much nature!

Well... it is starting to become amazing here! it is getting warmer (30s!) and it is staying light until 8pm. So the dogs and I have been taking advantage of the long days. I've been packing up the dogs every day this week and heading to the river after work. My friend Mary and her dogs Nyssa, Augie ("tank"), and Pico meet us there and for about an hour we all enjoy al of the nature that Fairbanks has to offer.

Today.. well, Fairbanks offered a little too much nature. In the worlds of Mary.... "there was a little too much open water for the labs to resist, but we all survived". There are hot spots all over the Chena River, so there are a few open water patches that were shallow enough for Bay and Kal to stand in and enjoy. But then we walked further down and ice broke! Bailey actually fell in the freezing cold water! I almost went running after, but Mary stopped me. She laid down on the ice and tried pulling bailey out... meanwhile, of course Kal went to try to help Mary in the rescue and she fell in the water too! I of course started screaming and just saw Bay struggling to stay above water and Kal trashing around! Mary ended up pulling both to safety, and we all continued our afternoon walk! Thanks Mary for saving my babies!
Just another day in Fairbanks, Alaska! Tomorrow, dinner and then to the Ice park to see all of the amazing ice sculptures with a few of the girls from work.
