Alaska here we come....

So….. I have received multiple requests for pictures of wilderness, strange people, and basically just my experiences in Alaska. And several people have said I should create a blog. Well, I can’t believe people would actually want to read about my daily life, but I have never turned down the opportunity to talk..so I thought I would try it!

First lets start of with the obvious…. What was I thinking??? It is FREEZING here, and quite frankly I am cold when it is 60! So -30, definitely an adjustment… one that I may never make, but at least the dogs and I will have fun trying! I am sure there will be a lot of cuss words, some yelling, probably some tears, but I think there will be a lot of happiness, laughter, and great memories. It’s going to be a great adventure!

So…after three wonderful weeks in freezing cold Wisconsin, I have finally made the trek to none other than North Pole, Alaska…. Yes you read that correctly, NORTH POLE!!! And for at least the next few months that is where you will find my little house. 1208 Vasi Way Apt B North Pole AK 99705 (for all those that want to send packages! Hahaha!). That is where you will find my little cabin in the woods as my Aunt Roxanne calls it…. And really that is what it is. A two story house, 16x16 each floor. So I guess it is a good idea that I got rid of most of my things when I left California! For all those that were worried, the house does have running water and not one but two toilets! No outhouses here! I love that I actually feel the need to tell you all that I have toilets. Welcome to a whole new life!

Alright, word has lost my document now 4 times… time to go. But before I do, I need to take a minute and be serious and rather boring! Thank you to my amazing friends and family. It was almost impossible to say goodbye to California and equally as difficult to leave Wisconsin. I couldn’t do this move without all of your love and support. I don’t know if my mom and dad will read this, but just in case, you two are the greatest. Sorry for all the dog hair, blood, and disruption we caused to the house! I love you so much and it was great spending so much time with you these last few weeks! And of course to those that surprised me, thank you! You can’t begin to know how much that meant to me. I’m just sorry I didn’t get to spend more time in WI, but maybe one day soon we will be back!

  1. I think you will find it interesting to know that your address.....VASI.....has a very distinct meaning in the aviation world. It stands for vertical approach slope indicator. It is a lighting system next to a runway that helps a pilot make a proper approach. Yes I am a nerd!!!!
