So.. it has been a rough couple of days here in North Pole... first off, it's freezing!! yesterday it was supposed to get up to -11, however, it stayed -20 all day. So thanks weather people for getting my hopes up and then crushing them with the cold. Could you actually be correct at your predictions in the future?
So on Sunday night we had a little excitement. The carbon monoxide alarm started to go off and wouldn't stop. Thinking it was probably just the battery that needed to be changed I went to look at it. The alarm said if it was beeping 4 times to get to fresh air and call 911 immediately, or if it was one beep service the alarm... 4 BEEPS!!! YIKES! so the fire department came (with a huge fire truck!), turns out everything was fine, and left me with two more monitors. Now I am obsessed with those monitors, constantly glancing at them to ensure a reading of "0"!
Well then on Monday, I fought the car battle yet again. I called the trucking company that picked the car up from California to see when they last had the car in their possession... Guess what???? That's right, a month after they picked it up they still had it. Apparently el schmucko that I paid had not paid this company (and was aware of this since the previous Monday and surprise he would not answer this company's calls). So my car was being held hostage in Seattle. This is where I got mad, filed a police report for fraud and a better business bureau complaint... no more fooling around!!!
So Tuesday am, I tried like crazy to get my car on the boat to Anchorage, but I failed. So I had my first break down.... I said I hated Alaska and wanted to move back to Wisconsin, cried and basically wanted to give up on this move. nothing was going my way.
Time to get up and take Kallie to the vet... yeap, a week in a new place and one of my beasts is already going to the vet.... her tail just won't heal. So she has this wound on her tail and whenever she wags it, blood sprays all over the walls and floors! It looks like a scene from Dexter! Well the tail has been vet wrapped for weeks, but she just wags it off... so time for the expertise of the vet! So, the secret, tape the vet wrap to the fur on her tail!!! So that is what I am supposed to do for the next couple of weeks. That and give her medication that may make her drowsy (what an added bonus!!!YEAH!). So for now, Kallie gets to keep her tail, which is fortunate because she isn't all that cute to begin with and with just a stump for a tail, well she would be pretty ugly! (Ps.. she ate a bar of soap and a bowl of chocolate on Monday, so I can say that!).
Well here is where my day started to change. first off, the pharmacy tech at Fred Meyer was so kind and had me laughing like crazy that I almost forget how bad my day had been... then I got home, called Alaskan Auto Transport to find out what was going on with my car... and they told me that el schmucko paid the trucking company, the car made it to the port... and that by some miracle the car made it on the boat to Anchorage yesterday.... so my car should be in Anchorage no later than February 2nd.. and I should have it no later than the 6-7th!!! YEAH!! So I will only have my rental car for a month at the end of it all!!! hahah! Then I heard from the licensing board that I have my RN license... and that they will review my application for my NP on Wednesday so I should have it Wed (or no later than Friday!!)... So.... hopefully I can start work by the end of this week at the latest by Monday!!!
So... I woke up Wednesday morning liking Alaska again. And excited for this adventure. I just hope it warms up soon so the dogs and I can start exploring the town and the cross country ski trails a little more!!! Until then, sorry for the boring posts...
missing you all.....
moose seen: still only 2
bear: NONE!
red lights slide through: no more (I am getting used to driving on the ice!!)
number of days with a rental car:10 so far....
I love your posts. They are not boring at all. I was actually laughing out loud at a few comments. What good news about the car and licenses. You will feel so much better, after you start work.
ReplyDeleteHope Kallie is better soon.
Love you! Aunt Sue
